If you arrive at a store armed with coupons but find that the item you want is out of stock, request a rain check from a manager or employee at the cusomer service desk. The document allows you to purchase the product at the sale price when it’s back in stock. (Source: All You Magazine)
Adavanced Couponers: If you get a raincheck during a special coupon promotion (triples or super doubles) the store may not get the product back in stock until AFTER the promotion ends. Unfortunately, the store will only honor the sales price of the item, not the increased coupon value from the promotion.
LOOK for rain checks: During non-promotion weeks, keep your eye out for items that are out of stock and ask for a rain check. Staple the coupons you hope to use with the raincheck and then wait, wait, wait…until super doubles or triples to maximize savings!! Here’s an example I did today with an old rain check:
Ziplock Sandwich bags Sale 2/$5
-1.00 Q during HT super doubles
= .50 each!!!
