Pantry Challenge:: Week 1 Shopping Trip

I think my shopping trip for Week 1 of the Pantry Challenge was good.  $16.19 Total. I must hang my head in embarrassment as I share the photo.  Which of these things don’t belong?

I KNOW!  The off brand of Fruit Loops do not go with our intentional eating OR the dairy/produce guidelines for the pantry challenge.  But, when the 100th day of school comes and you’ve been assigned Fruit Loops what’s a mom to do?  I was going to send in Cheerios instead until my sister scolded me.  She said my son would be embarrassed when he didn’t bring in his assigned food.  I remember so many embarrassing moments of school (being sent to the library during sex education ranks high on the list) so I bought the silly cereal.

Skim Milk $2.69 X 2
Bananas $1.01
Bananas $1.13
Gala Apples $2.69
Cantaloupe $1.49 X 2
Large Eggs $1.19
Fruit Rounds $1.49 (agghh!)
Tax $0.32
TOTAL $16.19

How did your first trip go?  We are having a great time sharing tips, tricks, and recipes at the Facebook Group Pantry Challenge February 1-15, 2011.  Come join us!
