Pantry Challenge:: Week 2 Shopping Trip

During the pantry challenge my goal is to spend $30 per week. The first week I spent $16.19.

Week 2 didn’t go as planned because we ran out of toilet paper and diapers.  In our budget we have food and toiletries together, so this made the $30 budget even more difficult.  Then, when I got up to the register, I miscalculated and had to ask them to de-scan a pack of tuna and a second pack of diapers.

Week 2 Pantry Challenge

Yogurt, cheese, and fruit are staples in our house.  The craisins were B2G3 and will be good to make trail mix and put in salads.  Although I’m almost out of lettuce.

TOTAL:  $30.17
TOTAL SAVINGS: $39.36
(VIC Savings: $21.67 + Coupons: 17.69)

I am lovin’ the support and participation in our Pantry Challenge Facebook Group!  The accountability is great.  Plus, we share when we run out of milk, our ovens break, we eat pizza for breakfast, and dinner is a flop.  Way to go girls!  We’re almost there!

How’d you do with Week 2 shopping?  Any chance you’ll go for a third week?  I’m thinking about it…

I kind of want to keep going, too! It’s so fulfilling to use those forgotten pantry items. However, since it’s week three I will have to make a small exception and buy 2 items that don’t fit the requirements. In my defense, they’ll help me use up other pantry items… oats and chocolate chips. Both are for the sake of my honey. I can’t ask him to suffer the loss of his daily granola. And I would love to make some fudge and use up all those cans of sweetened condensed milk in the pantry! Oh… must buy diapers, too! Are you in?? See how much you’ve inspired me?

I’m glad you’re inspired. It’s fun to use what you have and save money too! I’m jealous of your large bottle of honey from Costco :) I am in for a third pantry challenge week. However, I may go over the $30 since Super Doubles starts at HT on 2/16.

I’m sort of going to be doing it again. I blew most of my money last weekend at Costco and Target, so I’m left with about $40 . . . definitely going to get that free chicken, etc. at EarthFare! I can’t say that I share your enthusiasm on this though . . . :)

I’d Love to attempt!! But, I’ve just discovered Earthfare and am excited to get milk and a few “basics” from there….. which hasn’t broken the bank just yet…….
