About

The Carolina Clipper, Richelle Luchkowec

My name is Richelle and in October 2008 I saw The Coupon Mom on Oprah and was immediately inspired! Four years prior I had quit my job as a convention planner to be a stay-at-home mom.  Consequently, I had two part time jobs and money was tight.  Seeing The Coupon Mom shop and hearing her say I could cut my grocery bill in half was such motivation. I immediately took a hard look at our budget and found we spent on average $660 per month on groceries. I spent the following months teaching myself how to coupon and creating “practical tools” to make it work for me. My goal in 2009 was to spend $300 per month on groceries and toiletries. I tracked every cent I spent and at the end of the year my average weekly spending was $79.92 and I had $3,769.22 in coupon savings!!!

It worked!! I was so excited about my savings that I couldn’t keep quiet.  My friends began to ask questions and I was eager to share how to make saving money EASY and FUN. I started a blog, which led to teaching “Coupon Workshops“. I share how to make coupons practical with a busy lifestyle, how to create and stick to a budget, and how to plan meals around what’s on sale. Also, as a result of coupons, I have so much extra food that I’m able to give to my church food bank. I didn’t realize there were so many people going hungry in my local community, so now I volunteer there every other week.

Coupons have completely transformed how we spend money. Grocery shopping became fun!  Sticking to a budget is easy and rewarding!  Even our Family Fun activities are frugal!

I find the greatest joy in teaching others what I’ve learned.  Browse this site and if you want to take your savings to the next level check out my Class Info page to learn more.
